Banyalbufar is a small charming village situated in the Tramuntana mountains, only 35 minutes by car from Palma. Its name combines Arabic and Catalan influences, meaning "nestled by the sea". The origins of Banyalbufar go back to the 10th century when the Arabs inhabited the area. The 13th century and the arrival of the conquest turned this mountain village into a place of great importance for wine lovers as it was at this time that Malvasia, a grape variety especially appreciated by King Jaume I, began to be cultivated.
