 Banyalbufar is a small charming village situated in the Tramuntana mountains, only 35 minutes by car from Palma. Its name combines Arabic and Catalan influences, meaning "nestled by the sea". The origins of Banyalbufar go back to the 10th century when the Arabs inhabited the area. The 13th century and the arrival of the conquest turned this mountain village into a place of great importance for wine lovers as it was at this time that Malvasia, a grape variety especially appreciated by King Jaume I, began to be cultivated. The medieval spirit can be felt in every corner of Banyalbufar. The Torre de Ses Ánimes ("Tower of Souls"), a 17th century coastal watchtower built to scare off pirates, together with the traditional Mallorcan architecture will make you feel part of a fairy tale. Banyalbufar is a perfect place not only for history lovers, but also for hikers. The village offers different routes for all tastes. One of the most recommended is the hiking route that connects Banyalbufar with the fishing port of Port des Canonge, which passes through a beautiful path full of pine trees and rock formations. Thanks to its elevated position on the mountainside, Banyalbufar becomes a viewpoint with unforgettable sunsets. Down the road you can reach the Cala de Banyalbufar, a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters that will be a point of interest for sea lovers. Mountains, sea and medieval architecture make this place, not at all overcrowded with tourism, an oasis of peace for all those who want to get away from the stress of everyday life.
