Son Serra de Marina: Location and surroundings of this property

Son Serra de Marina belongs to the municipality of Santa Margalida located in the north-east of Mallorca, along the shore of the huge bay of Alcudia and 67 km from the airport. Amongst the smallest villages on the island it is nonetheless home to a stunning piece of coastline and has a mini marina. Most of the villas and duplex homes are summer residences but a few are occupied all year round. Son Serra is famous for its natural beauty and has a chilled atmosphere with a couple of bars, space for mobile home users, and perfect for Kite / windsurfing. Some areas are apt for nudists and there is plenty of beach to be discrete. Turquoise waters, white sand and in some areas rocks it is a perfect natural beach attracting lovers of nature, beach, sun and surf. There is a lifeguard in the summer and it needs to be noted that there are sometimes very strong undercurrents at the beach which must be treated with respect. Parking is no problem and it is the perfect day out to get away from the usual resorts of souvenir shops and peddlers. Other nearby places of interest include the Reserva Natural de S'Albufereta" and the "Finca Publica de Son Real" (an old Majorcan property open to the public). The Necropolis of Son Real (Necròpoli de Son Real) is an absolute must see. It is the largest prehistoric burial ground used from the Iron Age up to the Roman era. Take note it is quite a walk to the tombs the best place to start being from Son Baulo in Can Picafort, but it is a walk beside the sea along a virgin coastline and thoroughly enjoyable for the dog and energetic kids! Nearby towns include Arta, Can Picafort, Santa Margalida and Alcudia is not much further and the road network is excellent.
