The weekly market, which takes place every Tuesday, is well known all over the island. The town's theatre, among other places, shows a varied cultural programme. The surroundings of Artá offer a wide range of leisure activities with numerous natural beaches and four golf courses. There are also two marinas in the immediate vicinity. Nature lovers and hikers will enjoy the nearby Parque Natural de la Península de Llevant. The nearest beaches are in Cala Ratjada, Canyamel and Cala Millor. The municipality of Artà also includes the beautiful coastal settlement of Colònia de St. Pere.
